CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

"I was fascinated with Elizabethan England as a child and knew all about the Plantagenets [an English royal family before the Tudors], but deep down I really wanted to be Lucy [Lucille Ball]."

TV/Movies

"I really liked witch shows, like 'Bewitched' and 'I Dream of Jeannie.' Let's face it, [I Dream of Jeannie] was a fabulous show. Barbara Eden looked so fantastic in that costume. She never changed either. She would just, you know, [mimicking Jeannie's clap and bow] 'Yes, Master!' And something would appear? I loved that show."

" Then 'The Odd Couple' would come on. Actually, that and 'I Love Lucy' are my two all-time favorite comedies. The writing on those shows was absolutely brilliant. It really didn't get any better than that."

"I liked Mr. Magoo a lot because he was really critical, and I'm sort of critical myself."

"I loved 'Camelot,' even though that wasn't a child's film. 'Willy Wonka' was good. 'Mary Poppins' was brilliant. 'Mary Poppins' was great. Actually, I had dinner with the woman who was the little girl in 'Mary Poppins' a year ago. I just kept looking at her. She looked nothing like she did in the movie."

Toys

"Barbie kind of ruled! We all had Barbie. They had a lot of clothes for Barbie, for every conceivable situation."

"I remember the commercial when it was going down the stairs. We'd all get the Slinky and run home and do the stair thing. Oh, it went down the stairs! That was good."

"I was awesome at Hula Hoop. I had a green one and an orange one. I could do two [at one time]. I could do it on my arms, I could do it really fast!"

Books

"Dr. Seuss was brilliant- just brilliant. Every year you would watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas on TV."

"I had a lot of Curious George books. That was always great. Remember when he folded up all those newspapers into paper hats? And he sent them into the river and all the ducks were riding them? That was a great book!"

"I remember reading James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans. That was a great book. And Mark Twain. Those were great, great books that you'd remember. It's really sort of a lost art, writing. I mean, Mark Twain? The humor and the beauty and the poetry? For a young mind, I think those were good things."

Music

"Carole King, oh my God. By the time you were ten, if you were a little girl, you were like, 'I want to be Carole King.' Tapestry was such a great album. You'd be like, 'I just bought Tapestry, do you have it?' "

"I listened to Santana. My first album was Santana. The one with the tiger face."

Crushes

"I think we all had a crush on Keith [Partridge], until we got to a certain age where it wasn't cool anymore."

"Well, I had a little bit of a crush on Rock Hudson when he was in 'McMillan and Wife.' He was very good looking and he treated her very well."

Fashion

"So we'd all get the same Farrah 'do, and curl our hair up. We would have these little wings and tube tops and jeans, and lots of lip gloss. Lots of lip gloss!"

"We all had tie-dyed skirts, the wraparound skirts, and wear a tee shirt with them. I liked them, it's kind of coming back now."
